Aim

The BCA’s aim or purpose, is defined by its constitution / articles of association as : –
Improving the conditions of life of all the inhabitants of Barton and surrounding area, by working together with local people and statutory authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare and leisure time occupation.

Mission and Vision

To improve the conditions of life for  ALL residents of Barton
Barton is defined as the area of Oxford including all residences, non-residences, roads and green spaces leading off from that part of  the Bayswater Road, which runs from Headington Roundabout to the Bayswater Bridge. Barton is bounded by south Oxfordshire to the north, Northway to the southwest, Risinghurst to the south and Sandhills to the East

 

Objectives

  • To give a voice to the people of Barton.
  • To provide facilities for the interest of social well-being, health and leisure in Barton.
  • To promote education, training, advice, and employment in Barton.
  • To advocate for best possible sustainable environment in Barton
  • To represent the community’s view on planning applications and future developments in Barton
  • To encourage social inclusion and foster community cohesion in Barton

 

Principles

The BCA has VISIBLE principles: -

  • To give VOICE and representation to issues of local concern.
  • To maintain INDEPENDENCE and commitment to democratic principles
  • To provide SERVICE  for local people
  • To INTIATE projects and respond to local need.
  • To BUILD partnerships with other organisations and group
  • To enable a strong LOCAL network of people and organisations
  • To ENGAGE local people to become active in their communit
