New Neighbourhood Priorities

This is the start of a new term within the neighbourhood and it also the start of some change to priorities and the team itself, hopefully continuing on the upward trend which has been shown in the area so far.

This next period will show the start of our three new priorities which are set to be:-

•  Parking/Traffic: It has been identified that parking within the area is still an issue. The Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) worked hard on this priority last year and will to continue to work on resolutions to the problem. The implementation of double yellow lines at McDonalds and parking restriction lines at Bayard's Hill Primary School are a great success and a positive step in the right direction. We are now looking at where else this problem is affecting the community and what we can do to reduce/resolve it.

•  Anti-Social Behaviour: Although this remains a priority for the area, there have been significant reductions in anti-social behaviour and positive work in combating it. The neighbourhood police team have previously identified key individuals for anti-social behaviour. We have therefore, taken positive action to work with them and make them feel a part of the community. The 16 th May saw the clash of the titans with Barton v Woodfarm in an 11 a-side football game played with the Neighbourhood teams and local youths. This was a very successful day where the youths were able to interact with the police and work as a team together. The Barton team showed great sportsmanship to let Woodfarm win 5-0, and the day was received in good spirit by all those who took part and was a credit to them all.

•  Dog Fouling/Litter: This has never been identified as a top three priority through the NAG before and we are keen to make a real difference and impact on it. We will work hard to identify the key areas for this priority and it is essential it is dealt with accordingly.

We are also looking at holding surgeries every two weeks at a place and date to be confirmed in Risinghurst ensuring better accessibility for the large community we serve. Finally, it is that time of the year again when we look forward to the Barton Bash which always proves to be a fun filled day for the community which never fails to impress.
